Uso de "will" em Inglês

Como se usa o tempo verbal "will" em Inglês? "Will" é geralmente ligado a tempo verbal no futuro. Existem duas funções bem claras de "will" em Inglês. São:

(1) use de forma espontânea para dizer o que vai fazer, ou seja, não há planejamento ou agendamento previa;
 Exemplos:
  (a) I will travel to the USA next week. There is a problem I have to solve in our branch office.

   (b) "I will fix your car"! I told the man after the accident.

(2) use de forma condicional para falar o que tem possibilidade de acontecer no futuro.
  Exemplos:
  (a) I will buy a house if I save enough money.
  (b) I will visit my family if my Company gives me vacation.
  (c) I will call you if I finish my homework.

Problems facing English language learners 3

One of the problems facing English language learners is the constant use of the native language outside the classroom. This is a big challenge because people use their native language in their day-to-day business and this leaves no room for practising the English language. One other problem is the limitation or selection of what can be studied and how the content should be studied. From my many years of experience, I noticed that students try to choose what they want to study and how they want to do it. For example, some students want to do listening comprehension and speaking while others prefer reading and writing. It is interesting to note that some students make this choice and keep it for a period of 5 years of study. Studying English language or any other language requires the same principle as the one used in other disciplines. I cannot imagine a student of engineering or medicine selecting what he or she should study. The student should take all the disciplines that will make him acquire the necessary skill for the profession. The reason for selecting what to study comes from the fact that English learning is considered informal education, and as such, it is regulated by competent authorities. Therefore, many students find English study difficult as a result of choosing what to or not to study. This is a wrong approach. Think about this!

Common problems facing English Language learners 2

From my 23 years experience as an English teacher, I have come to the conclusion that one of the problems facing students learning English as a second language is the constant use of the native language outside the classroom. Since English language is not often used outside the classroom, the subconscious mind does not recognize it at the same speed as it does with the native language. Anything that is not recalled from the subconscious mind is generally forgotten. So, the question is: what should be done in order to create second language awareness in the subconscious mind? This should be taken up in our next posts.
