Common problems facing English Language learners 2

From my 23 years experience as an English teacher, I have come to the conclusion that one of the problems facing students learning English as a second language is the constant use of the native language outside the classroom. Since English language is not often used outside the classroom, the subconscious mind does not recognize it at the same speed as it does with the native language. Anything that is not recalled from the subconscious mind is generally forgotten. So, the question is: what should be done in order to create second language awareness in the subconscious mind?
